A reflective strip only works once headlights are already pointed at your dog. The Lunna Pet Co. LED Light-Up Safety Dog Collar makes its own light instead — a fiber-optic strip running the full length of the nylon, bright enough that a driver, a cyclist, or you across a dark field sees your dog long before a reflector would have done anything.
Seen first, not seen eventually
- Light of its own: Reflective material needs a light source aimed at it. This one is the light source, which is the whole difference on an unlit path.
- Four modes: Steady, fast flash, slow flash, and off — cycled with one button. Flashing catches an eye faster; steady is easier to follow yourself.
- USB rechargeable: No button cells to hunt for. The cable is in the box.
- Works as an ordinary collar: Adjustable nylon with a side-release buckle and a D-ring. Turn the light off and it is just a collar in daylight.
- Certified to CE, RoHS and EN471: EN471 is the European standard for high-visibility clothing.

Measure the neck with a soft tape where the collar sits, then add room for two fingers flat under it. If the measurement lands between two sizes, take the larger.
How to use
- Remove the plastic tab first. There is a small film under the switch that stops the light coming on in transit. The collar will not light until you pull it out.
- Charge it fully before the first walk using the included USB cable.
- Fit the collar so two fingers slide flat underneath. Any looser and it can pull over the ears.
- Press the button to cycle steady, fast flash, slow flash, off. Flashing is more visible to traffic; steady is easier for you to track.
- Wipe it with a damp cloth. Do not submerge it — the electronics are water-resistant, not waterproof.
Good to know
- Water-resistant, not waterproof. Rain and wet grass are fine. Swimming and baths are not.
- Being visible is not being protected. Keep your dog leashed near traffic regardless of what they are wearing.
- Use the D-ring for identification tags. For pulling on a leash, a harness is the safer attachment point.
- Runtime depends on the mode — flashing lasts considerably longer than steady.
- Except on white, the light glows the same color as the collar webbing.
- Rechargeable version only. Material: nylon webbing with a fiber-optic LED strip.

The clocks change and the evening walk moves into the dark. Same route, same dog, except now a black lab on an unlit path is genuinely invisible until something is close enough to be a problem.
Most collars answer this with a reflective strip. Reflective works — but only in the second after a headlight lands on it, and only if the beam is pointed the right way. On a footpath, in a park, or crossing a road at an angle, there is often no beam at all.

A steady glow is easier to follow yourself when your dog is off-lead in the dark. It charges over USB, so nothing depends on finding button cells at the wrong moment.
